भारत ने पहली बार हिम तेंदुओं की देशव्यापी वैज्ञानिक गणना पूरी की है, जिसमें कुल 718 तेंदुओं के होने की पुष्टि हुई। यह सर्वे हिमालयी इकोसिस्टम की सुरक्षा और इस दुर्लभ प्रजाति के संरक्षण की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम माना जा रहा है।

सीएसआईआर स्थानीय किसानों और स्वयं सहायता समूहों द्वारा उपयोग किए जाने के लिए नई कटाई मशीनरी भी विकसित करेगा, क्योंकि वर्तमान में इस वन्य उपज सी बकथॉर्न के फल के लिए काम में लाए जा रहे उपकरणों से केवल 10% ही बेरी निकाली जा रही है।
