उत्तर भारत की सभी महत्वपूर्ण आम की किस्में, जैसे दशहरी, चौसा और लंगड़ा, अनियमित रूप से फलती हैं। एक साल जब फसल भरपूर होती है तो किसान अच्छा पैसा कमाते हैं, लेकिन अगले साल कम फसल के कारण उन्हें नुकसान होता है। इसलिए किसान नियमित रूप से फल पैदा करने के लिए पैक्लोब्यूट्राजाल नामक रसायन का तेजी से उपयोग कर रहे हैं। उचित मात्रा में प्रयोग किसान के लिए हितकर है लेकिन अधिक मात्रा का प्रयोग हानिकारक है।
