लगातार जंगली सूअरों के हमलों से फसल बर्बाद होने और सरकारी कार्रवाई न के बराबर होने से कोयंबटूर के किसान मजबूर हो चुके हैं। अब उन्होंने अपने खेत बचाने के लिए 15 किसानों की विशेष टीम बनाकर खुद ही हालात संभालने का फैसला लिया है।

केंद्रीय वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्रालय पिछले साल अगस्त में जारी आंकडों के मुताबिक अप्रैल 2014 से पिछले साल मई तक हिसंक जानवरों में 1144 जानें जा चुकी हैं। इनमें 1052 मौतें हाथियों के हमलों से हुई है।
