एक समय था जब हर किसी के घर में साइकिल हुआ करती थी, या यूं कहें कि गृहस्थी का जरूरी हिस्सा हुआ करती थी, अब तो घर के किसी कोने में पड़ी मिलेगी। हालांकि एक बार फिर साइकिल का दौर लौटा है, ग्रामीण भारत का एक बड़ा तबका अब भी साइकिल से मीलों का सफर तय करता है।

निशा एक साल से उन्ही चार कपड़े के टुकड़ों से ही अपना गुज़ारा कर रही हैं जो उसकी मां ने उसे पहली बार माहवारी होने पर दिए थे और आज तक उसने सैनिटरी नैपकिन देखा भी नहीं। पूछे जाने पर कि वो नैपकिन इस्तेमाल करती हैं या नहीं, पहले निशा कुछ देर अपने दोस्तों का चेहरा देखती रही फिर बोली, "नेपकिन, वो क्या होता है?"
