बिहार में छठ पूजा हो या फिर किसी शादी का उत्सव, पद्मश्री शारदा सिन्हा के गीतों के बिना पूरा नहीं हो सकता है, एक छोटे से गाँव से निकलकर दुनिया भर में पहचान बनाने वाली शारदा_सिन्हा ने अपनी ज़िन्दगी के कई किस्से इस बातचीत में साझा किए हैं।

भिखारी ठाकुर इसलिए अमर और लोकप्रिय हैं, क्योंकि उन्होंने लोक की पीड़ा को महसूस किया और उसे गाया। नारी मन को तो उनसे बेहतर किसी ने आज तक समझा ही नहीं। बेटी बेचवा का गीत – ‘रूपिया गिनाई लिहलस, पगहा धराई दिहलस .. चेरिया के छेरिया बनवलस हो बाबूजी ‘ या 'बिदेसिया के बारहमासा' में एक स्त्री के बारहो महीने और आठों पहर के दुख को जिस तरह से भिखारी ने पकड़ा है, वह किसी और के बस की बात नहीं है। तभी तो किसी विद्वान ने उन्हें ‘भोजपुरी का अनगढ़ हीरा’ कहा, तो किसी ने उन्हें ‘भोजपुरी का शेक्सपियर’ माना।

कोरोना काल में जब मानव जीवन संकट में पड़ा तो सबको समझ में आया कि पंच तत्व, जिससे जीवन बना है, देह बना है, उससे जुड़ के रहना कितना ज़रूरी है। अपनी मिट्टी से जुड़ के रहना, उसमें लोटना, रोज़ उसको छूना कितना ज़रूरी है। नीम, बरगद, पीपल के छाँव में रहना कितना ज़रूरी है। घाम लोढ़ना कितना ज़रूरी है।

For Nidhi Singh, a primary school teacher from Bagahibhari village, Gorakhpur, her smiley badges have helped her grab the attention of her students. She gives out these badges to students to reward them for their performance. The parents are acknowledged too.

There are habitations of the Musahar community in Chhateri and Tathra villages, two of the 28 villages of the Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh where this socially and economically marginalised community is found.
