उत्तर प्रदेश में रबी सीजन अपने निर्णायक दौर में है। इस समय गेहूं, आलू, सरसों और दलहनों की फसल खेतों में खड़ी होती है और किसानों के लिए सबसे ज़रूरी होती है खाद। खासकर गेहूं में यूरिया की टॉप-ड्रेसिंग और आलू में डीएपी और एनपीके की जरूरत अचानक बढ़ जाती है। ऐसे वक्त में अगर खाद समय पर न मिले या ज़रूरत से कम मिले, तो पूरी फसल प्रभावित हो सकती है। इसी तर्ज़ पर उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने खाद की कालाबाज़ारी, नकली उर्वरकों की बिक्री और कृत्रिम कमी पैदा करने वालों के खिलाफ राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा कानून यानी NSA लगाने का फैसला किया है। यह फैसला जितना सख़्त दिखता है, उतने ही सवाल भी खड़े करता है। NSA क्यों लगाया गया, सरकार क्या दावा कर रही है, ज़मीन पर क्या हो रहा है और किसान इस पूरे सिस्टम को कैसे देख रहे हैं।

प्राकृतिक आपदाएँ सिर्फ खेत नहीं उजाड़तीं, बल्कि किसानों की सालभर की मेहनत और उम्मीदें भी बहा ले जाती हैं। संसद में पेश हुए आंकड़ों में बताया गया कि हर साल लाखों किसान तूफ़ान, बाढ़ और बारिश की मार झेल रहे हैं।

प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं की भीड़, बढ़ती बेरोजगारी और निजी क्षेत्र में अनिश्चितता के बीच सरकारी नौकरी आज भी युवाओं के लिए सबसे भरोसेमंद विकल्प मानी जाती है। ऐसे में 2026 में प्रस्तावित डेढ़ लाख भर्तियाँ युवाओं के लिए राहत की खबर हैं।

Launched a year ago to increase the participation of rural women in the national employment guarantee programme, the 'Mahila Mate' scheme in Uttar Pradesh has helped in providing better incomes to the rural women. In Sonbhadra district, half the labourforce is women.

A joint study by NABARD and Bharat Krishak Samaj has found that four in ten distressed surveyed farmers did not receive any farm loan waiver benefits in Punjab, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, which together comprise 27 per cent of the total Indian agricultural landholdings. The study also found that borrowings of an average Punjab farmer were far greater than their counterparts in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

There are habitations of the Musahar community in Chhateri and Tathra villages, two of the 28 villages of the Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh where this socially and economically marginalised community is found.

Post offices in India provide banking facilities in the absence of banking institutions in the rural hinterland. About 89 percent of total post offices are located in rural areas. These post offices are the sole prospects of savings and investments for a large chunk of the rural population. In such a situation, the ‘saving agents’ serve as a vital link between the rural denizens and the post offices.
